Did you know Judy was selected as "The World's Best-Dressed Woman"? Yep! The French Congress of Fashions selected Judy, out of all the women in the world, as "The World's Best-Dressed Woman" of 1945! You can read Adela Rogers St. John's about it, published in the November 1945 issue of Photoplay Magazine, right here on the Judy Garland Database.
This paper doll book, Whitman No. 996, was issued by Whitman Publishing Co. in 1945. Whitman must have also noticed Judy's wardrobe, because this is a fashion paper doll book, not a movie costume book as most are. And the fashions are all illustrated in that beautiful 1940s illustration style!
Unfortunately, I have yet to add this item to my collection! It's just about number one on my list of priorities, but I can't seem to find one, and I've been looking for years! The pictures on this page are from the book, Classic Celebrity Cutouts, by Cynthia Erfurt Musser, published by Hobby House Press, ©1988 (see below). The book is beautifully illustrated, and has lots of paper doll books covering at least a dozen celebrities. This book is a must-have for all celebrity doll collectors!
