1940 Whitman / Queen Holden
Judy Garland Cut-Out Doll Book
This book was originally issued by Whitman in 1940. In 1989 Merrimack Publishing reissued the book, and the reprint is still available today (1998). I bought this one from Beyond the Rainbow (see the here on the Judy Garland Database). I think they have it at the Judy Garland Children's Museum, too.
I've yet to see an original, so I don't know how faithful this reproduction is. This book measures about 14½ inches by 10½ inches. It's bigger than my scanner can handle, which is why the doll pictured below is missing her feet. The doll is about 12 inches tall.
Actually, there are two dolls - one in full-frontal pose, the other in profile. The dolls are on heavy stock, while the costumes are on a lighter stock.
There are six pages of costumes, all in the illustrating style of the 1940s, which I dearly love! Some of the pages have pictures of Judy (one shown below). There are also two doll stands made of heavy stock, and the back cover is a bed (also on heavy stock), which you can punch out and then you can put Judy to bed!
