Uncas

Uncas is the son of Chingachgook. He is an example of a "good Indian," as opposed to Magua. Fast-footed deer, strong Indian, well-oriented in the dark and hears any, even the quietest sound. For his speed and courage gets the nickname, Bounding Elk. Uncas's courage, the naturalness of his manners, convinces doubters of The Wily Fox and Hayward in the nobility of his intentions, and his name - Bounding Elk fully reflects the nobility of his nature.

In the novel, he serves as the conductor of the Munro sisters, rescues them from captivity, in search of Сora, he gets to the Delaware, who was once brought up and lived by his father, and becomes one of the leaders of the tribe and after everything perishes with Cora Munro. Unkas is devoted to his friends, noble, honest. His death can be perceived as a proof of the impossibility of the unification of various ethnic groups. However, the tragic fate of Uncas, personifying the poetic past of America, captures even without such sociological connotations.
