registered (adjective, reg-is-tered, \ ˈredʒəstərd \) office (noun, of-fice, \ ˈɑːfɪs \)

Definition: is the legal address (that can be different from the actual office address) of an organization that is an official member of the registrar of companies, and which receives all legal notices from the government and the court. A registered office can’t be represented by a simple P.O. box since it has to be an actual physical space where a company’s official is present. If a company changes its registered office, it’s its duty to notify proper authorities and the registrar within a pre-determined period.

In a Sentence:

  1. Since the director responsible for receiving all notices at the registered office is on a leave of absence, we have to find a substitute in the meantime.
  2. You have to remember to notify the registrar of companies about the change of your registered office address by the end of April.
  3. I think we’re one of the few companies in the area whose registered office is located in the same building as the organization’s actual office.
