[strʌkʧərəl ˌvɛriˈeɪʃən]

Definition: is a chromosomal change. Most of the information on chromosome rearrangements causing phenotypic or bodily changes and anomalies was obtained as a result of studies of the genotype (gene arrangement in the salivary gland chromosomes) of an ordinary fruit fly. Despite the fact that many human diseases are hereditary in nature, only a small part of them is reliably known that they are caused by chromosomal abnormalities. Only from observations of phenotypic manifestations is it possible to conclude that there have been some changes in genes and chromosomes.
