Anne is a real author of the diary. She begins it on her thirteenth birthday when she got this diary as a present. Anne starts writing about some girlish things like friends, boys, studying. When it goes further, she starts depicting more serious events. Because of the Holocaust and the World War II, she is forced to hide in the annex where she feels scared and lonely. She reveals her inner feelings about relationships with parents, her first serious affection with Peter. The reader may see how mature Anne becomes. Her diary finishes abruptly because she was caught and put into the concentration camp where she died.
