Arcadio

Arcadio is the illegitimate son of José Arcadio and Pilar Turner. He is a school teacher. However, he took over the leadership of Macondo at the request of Colonel Aureliano, when he was forced to leave the city. Arcadio can be described as a despotic dictator. He tried to uproot the church, because of his rule, persecution for the conservatives living in the city begins, especially on Don Apolinar Moscote. And when he tried to execute Apolinar for a snide remark, Ursula could not stand such behavior; she beat him as a small child. Having received information that the conservative forces are returning, Arcadio decides to fight them with the small forces that exist in the city. After the defeat and capture of the city by the conservatives, he was shot.
