Henry (Henery) Fray is a farmhand on Bathsheba`s farm. He tries to convince everyone that the right spelling of his name is “Henery.” He is described as a “man of bitter moods” who looks only for the worst in the circumstances.
He most of all shows his negative attitude toward Bathsheba’s ability to run the farm, because she is a woman. Henry considers that Everdene is an ignorant lady, who will lead the farm to decline.
