Isabella Linton is a sister of Edgar Linton, wife of Hiltliff, mother of Linton Heathcliff. Edgar's younger sister, she is sophisticated and elegant but fairly frivolous person. At the age of eighteen, she fell in love with Hitliff and went with him to the Thunderstorm Pass, and then, when she realized that she was waiting for her life, she ran to London. Isabella, who is running away from Heathcliff, stops at the house and describes the violent fight between Hindley Earnshaw and Heathcliff. She is bleeding from a knife wound to the head, brought on by her taunts to Heathcliff that he murdered Catherine. Her son, named Linton, is born a few months later, south of London.
