IT is a representation of the evil force in the novel. More precisely, it is described as a disembodied and oversized brain. It is interesting why the evil force is presented through the image of the brain. An explanation can be found in the fact that this image shows the reader how it looks like when everything is ruled only by mind and not by heart. Thus, the heart is what IT lacks to become good. At the same time, the example of IT shows how the power that seems to be unlimited can be limited if it is one-sided and uses just one approach instead of a combination of different ones. In the case of IT, its weakness lies in being heartless and concentrating only on the domination of the power of a mind.
