This character appears in the novel for not so many times to know and remember something special about him. Nevertheless, we know that he is a very old, even ancient surveyor of the Customs House. He seems to be kind, independent man with strong spirit. He likes helping people without demanding something instead. Being old he sometimes complains that he can’t do things as fast as he used too, that’s why we feel pity and sympathy for him.
