Lily Briscoe

Lily is a young single woman, who is an artist. She is the friend of Mrs. Ramsay and her neighbor as well. Lily started to paint a portrait of her friend; however, he has troubles finishing it. She has a pleasant appearance and nice personality, but still being unmarried. Mr. Ramsay attempts to marry her with Mr. Bankes. The relations between them resemble a true and supportive friendship between a man and woman. Lily is very attentive and observant. She is sensitive and meticulous as well. The interesting fact about her is that she was unable to see with closed windows.
