Mr. Van Daan is a head of the family which is hiding in the annex with the Franks. Previously, he worked with Otto Frank in Amsterdam. Anne calls him Mr. Van Daan. Analyzing her description, he is responsible, strict, frank, and sometimes egotistical. He wants to keep more food to himself instead of giving it to his family. He speaks his mind openly, especially when he argues with his wife. In real life, he died in one of the concentrations camps in the gas chamber at Auschwitz.
