This person is a wreck. Everyone who reads can’t feel sorry for him even after we understood that he’s going to kill the old man simply to feel free of the power of his eye. He’s always nervous, paranoid, worried and scared. Even more, he is physically and mentally ill (we see and feel his inability to distinguish real and unreal worlds), he is completely alone in this world being friendless. Also, this explains why he doesn’t tell his name or any other personal information. This story is a confession, but not about the place where to find him. Also, Poe doesn’t mention if the narrator is woman or man.
