She is a middle-aged woman who is in marriage and has children. However, she is not happy with her life because of the lack of feeling any spiritual bond with her family. The story is told in the form of a diary which this lady writes for herself in secret She struggles with her upgrowing depression which is imaginatively trapped in the wallpaper. Doctors say that she has hysterical tendency but the woman is obsessed with the idea to free the woman from the wallpaper. She is in despair, and nobody is interested in her inner feelings and emotions. In the end, she manages to break these ties of societal prejudice which repressed her for such a long time.
