Nigel is a slave on the Weylin plantation, Nigel is the individual servant of Rufus and appreciates some of the benefits of living with white people. Nigel does what he wants in spite of the danger of beatings, like his father, Luke. So far Nigel is tied down on the Weylin estate when he meets Carrie and a son, Jude. Nigel finally assists Dana to cover up Rufus’s death and supports Joe and Hagar in Baltimore.
