Obierika

Obierika is Okonkwo’s best friend and another successful and powerful man in the tribe. Isn’t it normal that they become friends? Obierika is also very smart. He looks like being less misogynistic than Okonkwo. He doesn’t feel and does anything that has unnecessary violence. He is merciful and just mean. After Okonkwo’s exile Obierika looks out for his friend, selling Okonkwo’s yams to ensure that his friend won’t suffer in financial and any other way. Also, he comforts Okonkwo when he is depressed. Like Nwoye, Obierika questions some of the tribe’s traditional structures. He is a good example of a true friend.
