For them, it is more significant to be happy, even if nobody else supports their decision. Oblonsky is a handsome aristocrat who works in the governmental sector. He has a love affair with the governess while being married to Dolly. Although she forgives him trying to save their marriage, Oblonsky doesn’t regret about what he did. This character symbolizes corruption which penetrates St. Petersburg. Stiva doesn’t lead an honorable life, but readers don’t neglect or scorn him.
