Of course, these aren’t real duke and Dauphin. But of these two characters, the Dauphin is the worst. In the premiere part, the duke steals a measly nine bucks— which wasn’t even enough for a pizza. The king, on the other hand, pretends to be a preacher to steal a whole $80. Not too cool, but okay, they are great examples of what not to do, the Duke and Dauphin have two important roles in the novel

-world version of Huck and Jim;
- they're a major part of Huck's maturation.
