Beatrice is the eternal figure of the unattainable platonic love of man in life and in death. It is she who, descending from paradise, asks Virgilio to become the conductor of the poet in the afterlife. She then shows him Paradise. Dante loved Beatrice nine-year-old boy. She very early passed away and turned into an angel. She was then eight years old. When a difficult moment happened in Dante's life she helped him. In this great creation, the poet's beloved appears already as a purely literary image, an angel and represents an active grace complemented by Virgilio, symbolizing intelligence and wisdom.
