Calypso

She is magnificent and terrific nymph who fell in love with Odysseus. Odysseus visited her island Ogygia during his voyage. Calypso holds him prisoner there for seven years until Hermes, the messenger god, persuades her to let him go. We can state that it is fascinating scene when Odysseus met Calypso. Homer depicts charming landscape of the island and transports readers to that calm atmosphere. Calypso is a neutral personage as she didn’t influence other characters’ destiny. She just left imprint in Odysseus soul. Nevertheless, this character makes the plot of the poem more interesting.
