Doctor Faustus

Doctor Faustus is a compilation of the author's ideas about a person and his being. The hero is shown in various guises. He is also a scribe, a deluded individual, a philosopher, a criminal, which proves the inconsistency of his character. There is a perpetual dissatisfaction with himself and the world. Goethe considers this inner turmoil to be the most significant in the history of humanity.

Faustus is a historical personage. His parents were God-fearing people, but the son did not inherit piety and humility from them. Studying theology, Faust did not disdain witchcraft. His mind was quick and arrogant. Through some spells, the scientist decided to call the devil to achieve the impossible.

The friend agrees with all the conditions and concludes a contract for twenty-four years, after which the body and soul of Faust will be at the disposal of the servants of hell. In the rare moments of the dissolute life, the scientist attends regret about a deal made, but entertaining adventures, power over masses, successes in astrological studies distract from thoughts about a terrible end. The demon does not allow the protagonist to marry, because marriage is a Christian affair.

This man sold his soul to the devil in order to learn the basics of the universe. He longs for more, seeks to reveal secrets and receive new revelations. Faust is overcome by completely opposite feelings and emotions. This period is the one who understands that the surrounding reality is not the final point, so you need to fly and dive into the depths of the unidentified. The positive quality of the mentioned character is the desire to be free and happy. The Doctor’s image is inextricably linked with the theme of the meaning of life, so you begin to reflect on your own value by watching his deeds.
