Maman

This character is Mersault’s mother. He told that she was not very smart, but she knows a lot. Also, she was kind-hearted. The story of Mersault’s mother death opens the novel. They lived together for a long time until Mersault had money to afford care about Maman. Also sometimes he tells that they didn’t have similar topics to talk about and discuss. When the funeral comes, everyone tried to shame him as he didn’t show a lot of sadness. When Meursault appears in prison, he referenced all his anecdotes and all the stories exactly to her.
