Piggy (LOTF)

Because of his poor eyesight, asthma, and excessive weight, Piggy is mocked by other boys except for Ralph and Simon. Despite being a complete outsider, he is perhaps the most intelligent boy on the island. His scientific and rational mind helps the boys to make their lives civilized and comfortable until they are rescued. As he can’t lead the group personally due to the lack leadership qualities, Piggy – he hates this nickname – becomes Ralph’s advisor and together they manage to create a tuned system. But all the efforts are wasted when Jack gets in charge and allures most of the boys from their group. A highly cultural person, he can’t accept the changes happening with other boys. His brutal death from Roger’s hands demonstrates that culture has no means to protect itself against the human savagery.
