Poseidon

The god of sea and power. He is a central antagonist of poem. According to plot, readers can find out that Poseidon is responsible for all problems and conflicts of The Odyssey. He created a blind Cyclops Polyphemus who constantly hampered Odysseus’s journey to home. Homer doesn’t give deep and precise description of the place and role of Poseidon in the novel. All that we know is that he is a chief God who hated Odysseus and tries to kill him. Nevertheless, such personage enriches and improves the plot of poem. It is much more interesting to read The Odyssey when it has fascinating scenes of the battles between gods and people.
