Professor is an oceanographic scientist. He is a complicated character as his behavior changes during the story. Sullivan’s lab is deep under the ocean. The Overlords often ask Sullivan to perform such tasks as entire stuffing whales for exhibition in the Overlords’ museums on their homeworld. The smart and educated professor decides to cheat a little – as he works on the ocean floor, he makes researchers but sends the fake ones to Overlords for them to study. He agrees to help Jan with hiding, although he is nervous about the young man’s destiny.
