The Lord of the Flies

The Lord of the Flies

To coax the beast occupying the cliff, Jack and his tribe have come up with a special offering – the head of a pig on a stick. They call this symbolic totem the Lord of the Flies, the name derives from the Christian myth about Beelzebub, the demon considered to be the incarnation of Satan. This totem is an allegory of what these civilized and well-behaved boys have gone through – the decline into savagery, cruelty, and amorality.
