Virgilio

Virgilio is an ancient Greek poet. He becomes the conductor of Dante and will save him from the three predatory animals that personify the three human vices. It is sensuality, greed, and lust. In the comedy, Virgilio is personified as intelligence and wisdom that can save from these vices. To some extent, Virgilio is Dante, only older, stronger, rarer and wiser. He explains to Dante everything that can portend danger. Virgilio is always in limbo, this is a special circle of Hell, where the souls of babies and pre-Christian writers live. Despite, at the strength and competence of Virgilio, there is a need for divine intervention, in order to complete this journey safely.
