Män som hatar kvinnor

Most of people tend to believe they have never experienced the contemporary literature of Nordic countries until they realize that Stieg Larsson, who wrote the legendary “The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo”, was Swedish.

It is believed that the author wrote the book and especially its main character based on real life events. While we may question whether he really witnessed a rape in real life or not, it’s undeniable that such terrible situations exist in our society.

A well-known journalist of the “Millennium” magazine, Mikael Blomkvist, has to quit his job because of the libel accusations. He takes on a private investigating job for Henrik Vanger. A skilled hacker Lisbeth Salander helps Mikael track the missing girl named Harriet while uncovering a lot of dirty secrets of the Vanger family members.

Salander herself has a lot of drama on her hands – because she exhibited anti-social behavior since she was a teenager, she is supervised by a guardian Nils Bjurman who takes very bad care of her. Eventually, the two partners set off looking for a real and dangerous serial killer who takes pleasure in abusing and killing women.

The events of the book are appalling and disgusting, yet the plot keeps the reader engaged in the process till the very last page of the last of the Millennium series. It’s a marvelous crime story: the intrigue, the denouement of the investigation, the conditions, high-tech tools and constant diversions.

The writer conducted a very thorough research to make the story feel as real as possible. Every fact, enterprise, and city in the book are fact-checked and thought through to perfection. This absorbs the reader and makes him feel in the midst of the events. “The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo” will leave you terrified, fulfilled and absolutely exhausted in a good way.
